Smelly Sacks
Smelly Sacks were designed and created by a team of 5th grade students from Hazen Elementary School. Team members are Kayla Gladish, Ross Harper, Drake Jones, Kade Perry, and Jackson Shelman. The idea for Smelly Sacks came from Kade Perry. He wanted to create a product that would absorb odors and also emit a fresh smell. Team members experimented with prototypes during the spring of 2011. These prototypes were stored in a musty closet over the summer. When we came back to school in the fall, the Smelly Sacks retained their smell, and the closet was no longer musty. Group members worked to write a business plan to be entered in the YES for Arkansas Competition. The team members of Smelly Sacks were elated to find out that their business plan was one of the 26 selected to participate in the YES for Arkansas Expo at Park Plaza Mall on January 20, 2012. This team will also be presenting their product at the January school board meeting and holding a small fair at school. Smelly Sacks sell for the low price of $2.00!
